Job Overview

We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join Burkett & Co.’s talented team. The successful candidate will reflect our firm’s core values while providing high quality support to all members of our team as well as our clients. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the managers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagement working papers.
  • Prepare corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns.
  • Prepare various T-slips and supplemental filings (e.g., T4, T5).
  • Perform detailed analysis of revenue, expense, and investment transactions.
  • Communicate with clients as required to complete engagements and file work.
  • Assist with special engagements and projects, such as retirement planning, incorporation, corporate reorganizations, valuation work, and other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Public accounting firm experience.
  • Experience with preparing personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, CaseView, TaxPrep, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Proven attention to detail and analytical skills, including problem solving skills.
  • Effective management of competing tasks and deadlines.

Job Type & Location

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday), on-site
  • Victoria, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
